This can take a lot of self reflection (and maybe a bit of self discovery too). Journaling is fantastic way for you to figure this out. So good on you for taking this approach.
We’re here to help you get started on this self development journey. There are a number of areas where self growth can occur, so for your convenience, we have come up with 50 journal prompts for self growth and split them up based on areas you might like to focus on. Feel free to pick and choose prompts from across the categories, or focus your energy on one category at a time. It’s up to you. Once, you’ve picked your prompt, copy it onto the top of a fresh page in your journal or notetaking app and get writing 🙂

Revamping Your Thoughts
- What do I say to myself when I have “failed” or experienced a setback in my life? Why do I say these things to myself? Do I really believe these thoughts?
- Pick a time when you have doubted yourself. Did your doubts come true? What can you learn from this situation?
- Pick a time when you have had confidence in yourself. What happened in this situation? What can you learn from this?
- How does it really feel when I think negative thoughts about myself? In what ways has thinking negative thoughts about myself benefitted me?
- What is one negative thought I’ve had about myself recently? How can I reframe that thought into something more positive?
- What are 3 positive affirmations I could say to myself the next time I am feeling _______ (pick your emotion)?
- Pick a negative belief you hold about yourself. Try reflect on where that belief might have come from.
Gratitude
- Who are you most grateful for in life and why?
- What piece of advice are you most grateful for in life and why?
- What are five things that you are grateful for today?
- Write about a time that someone showed you kindness.
- What are you grateful for in your friendship with your best friend?
- Think of a friendship/relationship that didn’t work out, what 1 thing are you grateful for from that friendship/relationship?
- Name a skill or quality that you have developed that you are proud of.

- Who are my true friends right now? Why is their friendship important to me?

- What is stopping me from being vulnerable with my friends?
- Think of the last conflict you had with a friend. How did you handle it in the moment? What would you have done differently?
- What is one thing I struggle with when it comes to my friendships? What steps can I take to make this less of an issue for me?

- What benefits do I notice when I consistently drink enough water? How can I help myself to stay hydrated every day?

- What things trigger negative emotions for me? Pick one trigger at a time and ask yourself: What can I do to manage the trigger or the emotions it causes?
- Think of a time when you did something kind for someone else. What did you do and how did it make you feel? What is a random act of kindness I could commit to doing this week?
- What is making me feel stressed or overwhelmed right now? How do I currently manage my stress? What can I do to manage my stress better?
